How do I add content to the left or right columns of my site?

In order to add content to the left or right columns of my site, you'll need to create the content in the Panels manager*.
 
Once you have created the content in the Panels manager, you will be able to place the panel in one of 6 places including the left or right column of any of your pages using the Panel Placement tab within the panel, the Panels tab within the desired pages or areas of the site, or the Default Panels tab of the Pages Manager (to add it to the entire site - except the home page since it is managed separately).  See Content Panels for more information on this process.
